Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Rishikesh to Sari Village, the base for your Deoriatal trek. Departing at 6:00 AM, you’ll pass through winding mountain roads, offering breathtaking views of the Himalayas. En route, stop at Devprayag, where the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers converge, a spiritual and picturesque landmark.
The journey includes breaks for breakfast or lunch at your own expense, allowing you to soak in the serene landscapes. Upon arrival in Sari by evening, you’ll be greeted with tea and a trek briefing. The peaceful village, surrounded by meadows and terraced fields, provides the perfect setting to relax. Unwind at your guesthouse and rest for the exciting days ahead.

After about 90 minutes, you’ll arrive at Deoriatal, a pristine alpine lake surrounded by the grandeur of the Garhwal Himalayas. The tranquil setting is crowned by Mt. Chaukhamba, its reflection shimmering in the lake’s clear waters. From here, glimpses of the Chandrashila summit and Tungnath temple add to the charm, offering a preview of the trek’s upcoming highlights.

The most awaited moment of your journey unfolds at dawn as you embark on an early trek to Tungnath, the world’s highest Shiva temple, to witness a breathtaking sunrise that will etch itself into your memory forever. Your summit adventure begins early with a drive from Sari to Chopta, followed by a 4-5 km trek to Tungnath. The well-marked trail ascends gently through meadows and forests, offering birdwatching opportunities and increasingly stunning views. As you near the temple, the sight of Tungnath, steeped in mythology as the highest Shiva temple in the world, adds a spiritual depth to your journey.
